When Commercial Towing Is The Best Option For Your Truck

Commercial truck drivers face some of the same problems out of the road as drivers in cars and light trucks, but because their trucks are large and often loaded with a lot of weight, something simple like a flat tire can become a much larger problem that could result in needing to tow the truck off the road for service.

Engine Problems

Commercial trucks often run for millions of miles, and over time, those miles begin to wear on the engine and running gear of the truck. Even a well-maintained truck can have an engine problem that leaves it stranded on the side of a major highway, needing some assistance to fix the problem. In most cases, the truck will need to be towed into a service center for engine repairs, not fixed on the side of the road.

Towing a large truck off the side of the highway is not something that just any towing service can handle. A commercial tow company will need to come out with a truck that has the power and strength to not only tow the truck but to tow its trailer and load as well.

Flat Tires

What may seem like a small problem for many people is not a small problem at all on a commercial truck. A flat tire on a sedan is easily changed on the roadside, but if a tire on a commercial truck fails, it can damage the truck, and changing it is not as simple as just jacking it up and swapping a tire. A commercial roadside assistance company will need to bring some large equipment to the truck if the tire is going to be changed on the roadside.

If the blowout or flat damaged the truck, towing it into a tire center or service center may be the best option. The driver and tow operator will have to assess the situation and determine what the best course of action is, but sometimes, it is safer to tow the truck than to try and repair it on the road with traffic nearby.

Traffic Collisions

If your commercial truck is involved in an accident, towing it in for repair may be necessary. If the truck is damaged and the trailer and load have been separated from the rest of the truck, you may need a commercial tow company that can bring a truck out to tow the load in separately. The load will more than likely go to the same place your truck is going, but moving the two separately is often the best way to ensure the trailer and load remain viable during the towing process.
